The Lookout

In 2015 the client bought a site with planning permission and an amazing view. The plan was to demolish the existing 1950’s bungalow that sat on the site and in its place erect a ‘kit house’. The German company Baufritz was chosen as the supplier of the ‘kit’ and their in-house architect achieved approval for a seven-bedroom house over three floors.

As the project progressed it became apparent it was too large for the busy client to manage alone and Baufritz suggested finding help. We got the call and were very excited to be asked to take part in such an interesting project; it just so happened Steve speaks fluent German which came in quite handy.

Our initial task was to hone the design to better meet the needs of the client; increasing the size of the balcony, moving the swimming pool to a better position, enlarging the cinema and inclusion of a Portland stone chimney breast with contemporary wood burner.

The project also involved a large amount of work outside; landscape design, swimming pool, hot tub and outdoor kitchen area. All aspects of the project not covered by Baufritz, but important elements that need designing and co-ordinating.

The project appeared in the TV program ‘Flat Pack Mansions’ which aired on 21st May 2017 on C4.
